Nick Cage Pyramid

You may be asking yourselves “ A PYRAMID TOMB !?” But before we go there, a brief History lesson for you.

Established in 1789, St. Louis Cemetery No 1. Is the oldest extant cemetery in New Orleans. In 1788, the City of New Orleans suffered a number of significant setbacks including the first of two great fires and an epidemic that taxed the already full cemetery located on St. Peter Street, bounded by St. Peter, Burgundy, Toulouse, and Rampart Streets. In response to concerns from physicians about the spread of diseases, the acting government of the city ordered the earlier cemetery to be closed and a new cemetery to be established further away from the population. The Church selected a 300-square-foot parcel bordering marshy swampland outside of the confines of the fortified city, and about 40 yards from the rear garden of the then location of Charity Hospital as the site for the new cemetery. A picket fence was erected around its perimeter and burials began immediately.

In 1975, St. Louis Cemetery No. 1 was listed on the National Register of Historic Places as having a national level of significance in the areas of art and architecture. It was later listed as part of the African American Heritage Trail by the State of Louisiana in 2008 due to the large number of historically and culturally significant African Americans interred within the cemetery.

They are known for their vaults as opposed to tombstones.  The cemetery is also known for the resting place of Voodoo Queen Marie Laveau featured in American Horror Story: Coven portrayed by Angela Bassett.

Now Lets Talk About The Tombstone

What I am about to share with you is from RoadsideAmerica.com regarding Nicky’s tombstone…..

In 2010 Nicholas Cage purchased the last two plots in New Orleans‘ thickly populated St. Louis Cemetery No. 1. He had built on it a nine-foot-tall cement pyramid mausoleum, apparently for his future self.

Some say that Cage’s love of Voodoo motivated him to locate his tomb in the same ancient cemetery as Marie Laveau, the Voodoo Queen. The pyramid stands, stark and white and out-of-place among the surrounding graves, which are stained with centuries of New Orleans’ grime and mold. Its only embellishment is a line of creepy lip prints, apparently left by adoring fans.

New Orleans purists hate Cage’s pyramid. His defenders argue that pyramids have a long history in funerary art, but Cage’s creation is not some classical neo-Egyptian tomb; it’s more like the “pyramid power” storage boxes that were once sold at Sharper Image stores to indefinitely preserve bananas and razor blades. Maybe Cage is planning to keep his corpse fresh until Voodoo can revive it for some future National Treasure film?

The only inscription on the pyramid is the latin Omnia ab Uno, a motto popularized by the Rosicrucians. It expresses a belief in universal unity — although we overheard one unsympathetic tour guide translate it as, “I am a jackass.”

Theories About The Tombstone

There are some theories behind the purchase of this tombstone….

Many theories surround Cage’s tomb which reads, “Omni Ab Uno” which is Latin for “Everything From One”.

“One of his most famous movies called ‘National Treasure’, well there’s a picture of a pyramid on the movie poster, but that seems far too simplistic as to why he built this tomb.  Another theory is that he

prescribes to the beliefs of the illuminati, that’s what some people have said.  There is also theory that he did it to shelter money inside the tomb too. You can also probably fit 3 caskets inside it.

Nicolas Cage And The Voodoo Theory

Another theory is Voodoo: Did Cage buy his plot to be close in death to the site’s current most famous resident, Voodoo Queen Marie Laveau? He certainly had a Voodoo priestess bless his second marriage and he prepared for his role in Ghost Rider by dressing up as Baron Samedi (the undead bloke from Live and Let Die).

I should also mention that Nicky purchased  this famed New Orleans house in 2006 for $3.45 million. Supposedly the house belonged to a socialite serial killer named Madame LaLaurie, who was the inspiration for the character of Kathy Bates in American Horror Story: Coven.

In the house that Madame LaLaurie would kill and torture slaves in the 1800s. Legend says it’s haunted.

While there is no doubt, the pyramid was chosen by the actor to be his final resting place, Nicolas Cage himself has never made a public declaration as to why he bought the pyramid-shaped tomb.

Ending

In the end…

On July 14, 2009, the Internal Revenue Service filed documents in New Orleans in connection with a federal tax lien against property owned by Cage in Louisiana, concerning unpaid federal taxes. The IRS alleges that Cage failed to pay over $6.2 million in federal income tax for the year 2007.[148] In addition, the Internal Revenue Service has another lien for more than $350,000 in unpaid taxes dating from 2002 to 2004.[149] Cage filed a $20 million lawsuit on October 16, 2009, against his business manager, Samuel J. Levin, alleging negligence and fraud.[150] The lawsuit states that Levin “had failed to pay taxes when they were due and had placed [Cage] in speculative and risky real estate investments ‘resulting in (the actor) suffering catastrophic losses.'”[150] Cage is also facing separate lawsuits from East West Bank[151] and Red Curb Investments for unpaid, multi-million dollar loans.

BUT BEFORE WE WRAP IT UP……WHAT’S YOUR THEORY ON THESE BIZARRE PURCHASES ?
