The Burari Family Suicide, or The Burari deaths, refer to the ritual suicide of eleven family members of the Chundawat family from Burari, Delhi, India, in 2018. Ten people were found hanged, while the oldest family member, the grandmother, was strangled. The bodies were found on 1 July 2018; in the early morning after the death.

Question
Have you ever known someone who seemed normal, and then found out that they were hiding a big, dark, secret ?
Tonight we are going to INDIA to Burari, Delhi.
The year is 2018, and the Bhatia Family lives in a double story house. They have lived in this home for over 20 years, and under this roof, there were THREE GENERATIONS:
Narayani Devi- 80 years old, the matriarch of the family.
Her Children- Pratibah 57, Bhuvenesh 50, and Lalit 45
Their spouses and children
Savita- wife of Bhuvenesh and their children Nitu, Monu, and Dhruv (Their only son).
Tina- Wife of Lalit and their son Shivam
Pratibath a widow and her daughter Priya.
That is a total of 11 people living under one roof ! They run a successful grocery shop AND a plywood business. They are loved by their neighbors, and relatives. They are kind hearted, and would give the shirt off their backs.
On July 1, 2018 the grocery store was closed. Normally they opened at 5-5:30 am. A friend and neighbor to the family went to knock on their door at approximately 7:15 am because not only was the shop closed, but Lalit one of the sons used to accompany him on their morning strolls was nowhere to be found.
Upon the arrival at the Bhatia home, the neighbor was floored at what he discovered. The door to the house was open and inside 10 of the family members including Lalit were found hanging in the courtyard of the house. They were blindfolded and their mouths were taped. Some of the family members also had their hands and feet bound.
Where was the matriarch ? She was strangled and bound in another room.
The members of the family were found hanging from mesh in their ceiling of their hallway. The bizarre thing about it was they were all hanging close together almost one in front of the other. In batches of three. Their faces were all wrapped entirely in cloth (cut from a single bed sheet) , their ears plugged with cotton, and mouths and hands tied behind their backs.
There were also 5 stools discovered at the scene of the crime which was most likely shared amongst the 10 family members.
The only survivor of the mass murder was Tommy, the dog who was chained to the terrace of the roof and was found to be suffering from a high fever. It wasn’t clear who tied him up, but was taken to a safe house for stray animals immediately upon discovery. I hope hes still alive. Poor Tommy.
Investigation
The police began to investigate this bizarre crime. And in the Netflix docuseries House of Secrets The Burari Deaths, you can see hundreds of thousands of people flocking to the scene of the crime standing outside of the Bhatia home in SHOCK and disbelief.
The police initially registered the case as murder due to immense public scrutiny, pressure from hardline groups and accusations of coverup from relatives. But the police really believed the circumstances surrounding the deaths point to a mass suicide for religious and supernatural beliefs. There were no signs of struggle found during the post mortem of the bodies.

Upon investigating the Bhatia home, the police came across 11 DIARIES that were maintained over a period of 11 years.
A quote from Joint Commissoner Police Alok Kumar stated, “We have found handwritten notes detailing how hands and legs are to be tied and are quite similar to the manner in which the bodies of 10 persons were found. They are exhaustive notes and we are studying them.”
Details and directions in the diaries matched the scene of the crime.
The diary stated that the Bebe (the matriarch) could not stand and hence should be laying on the bed, which was consistent with the discovery of her being found strangled on the bed
The diary also mentions: “everyone will tie their own hands and when the kriya (ritual) is done then everyone will help each other untie their hands”, indicating that the family was not expecting to die
THEY DID A HANDWRITING ANALYSIS
Handwriting Analysis revealed that these diaries were written by Lalit the son which were supposedly dictated to Lalit by his late fathers spirit. His father died 11 years ago which matches the timeline of diary entries. Lalit is believed to be the “Mastermind” of the whole incident. The crime branch believes that Lalit and his wife Tina were responsible for tying the hands and legs of the family members. It was also revealed that Lalit would often research about death and soul on the internet and watch paranormal shows on YouTube. Lalit had told the family members that the soul of the husband of Narayani Devi had entered his body in order to get the family to follow him. The Crime branch is also investigating his mental state
