” Death By 3D: Movies That Kill ” – Show Notes

MOVIES THAT HAVE KILLED PEOPLE

What is your favorite movie?
What is a movie that triggers an emotional response for you?

AVENGERS: Infinity War

-I dont watch and of this super hero crap, but, I felt that this would be a great way to kick start my topic and enable me to serve a 3D glasses look.

-In a movie theatre in India, 43 years old man Peddapasupula Baasha was discovered dead in one of the seats of the theatre after a screening of Avengers: Infinity War. His death is unknown, but likely it was due to a heart attack.

-Allegedly a good number of Marvel fans were not happy about this film because some key characters allegedly were killed or no longer going to be part of the franchise.

-It’s unclear as to when during the film be died, but he was watching the movie alone.

-It should also be noted that nobody knows if the death was caused from natural causes, or from his reaction to the events of the movie.

-His body was found by the theatre staff who assumed he was sitting through the closing credits, but after the credits, he still did not move from his seat which of course caused concern for the staff.

-It wasn’t until they removed his 3D glasses that they knew he was dead.

-Allegedy nobody heard him struggling, so his death could have been peaceful.

This story is from the Times of India.

  1. AVATAR

-I have never seen thus movie either, but all I know is that it’s highly computerized and there are blue people and it won all sorts of awards.

-When the movie was initially released, a 42 year old Taiwanese man went into a cardiac stroke due to the 3D visual affects, causing it to bee too much for him . He passed away 11 days after his stroke.

  1. The Passion of Christ

-This was that stupid Jesus movie by Mel Gibson. One cool thing about it was the use of gore making it more realistic and over the top.

-During one of the screenings in 2006, 56 year old Peggy Scott suffered from a heart attack during the crucifixion scene and passed away.

-A Month after this incident, the same thing happened again..,.but this time it was a 43 year old Brazilian pastor who died in front of his whole congregation.

-These people need to C H I L L . It’s not like we don’t know what happens in the movie. It’s the Passions of the Christ, not the Adventures of Jesus in Heaven.

  1. The Creeping Unknown

-This time death at the cinema struck upon a 9 year old boy who attended a test screening of the movie.

-The Creeping Unknown is a 1955 science fiction/ horror film. Also known as The Quatermass Xperiment.. the film is about an Astronaut who returns to Earth after an experimental space flight that was afflicted by a bizarre fungus that transformed him into a murderous monster.

-The 9 year old boy was so frightened during the movie that one of his arteries ruptured and he died.

  1. A FISH CALLED WANDA

-I have never seen this movie, but I remember it was always playing on the IFC channel in the early 2000s when I first got cable tv.

-The film is from 1988 and it about a gang of diamond thieves who double cross one another to find stolen diamonds that were hidden by the gang leader. The film is a comedy that stars Jamie Lee Curtis, John Cleese and Kevin Kline. IDK who the other 2 are.

-Apparently. This film was so funny that a Danish Audiologist, Ole Bentzen, actually died laughing at the movie. There was a scene where different characters shove French fries up each others noses. And well, he thought it was so funny, he laughed him self literally to death.

  1. THE COUNJURING PART 2

Some parts of this movie are actually kind of creepy. Like the none in the hallway OMGZ but her big debut of having her own nun movie was horrendous.

This film was so scary, that a 65 year old man, Tamil Nadu, collared and died while watching the movie. I don’t know what scene it was, but I am guessing it was the nun running down the hallway.

-What makes this death even more Bizarre… when his body was being transported to the hospital…the driver completely disappeared with Tamil’s body, both never to be found again..

  1. JAWS

-As a nod to our Matwan Shark episode which inspired the film JAWS, I thought it would only be appropriate ate to mention this one..

-When Jaws was in the theatre, one man who was sitting in the front row of the theatre completely collapsed and went cold. There is nothing I could find anywhere stating the cause of death, however, there were several doctors in the audience that night, and none of them could save the man, despite their best efforts.

  1. FREAKS

-Freaks is a GREAT movie, and I feel like you could do a whole Bizarre Buffet Episode about this film.

-The film is from 1932 and was the inspiration to AHS: Freak Show and by inspiration I mean it was completely copied off of..

-the premise is about a trapeze artist who learns that the circus “midget” but we are going to say LITTLE PERSON… so this little person in the circus comes across a BIG inheritence. She marries him with the plans of stealing his fortune and running off with her lover who is the “strong man” in this circus. When the Little persons friends who are all part of the “Freak show” at this circus find out, they band together to carry out brutal revenge on the 2 scam artists.

-what makes this movie so special is that they used actual people with deformaties to be in the film (which was unheard of at that time). Some of these included Siamese Twins, a Human Skeleton, The Living Torso ( a limbless man who suffered from Tetra- Amelia Syndrome) , and so much more..

-the film was allegedly so shocking that a pregnant woman who was at a test screening had a miscarriage after viewing the movie (if this is true, she’s probably a shit person and had it coming).

-It was never ACTUALLY proven that her miscarriage was caused by the film, but it did spread like wildfire through the media, making this movie even more contraversial.
