” Glacier Park Murder ” – Show Notes
Question: Since we are all brides to be, what would be your picture perfect wedding ?
Typically when one gets married, they usually describe their wedding day as “the best day of their lives”. For Cody Johnson and Jordan Graham, not so much.
THE COUPLE
Cody was 25 when he met Jordan who was 22. They met at the same church in Montana. He instantly fell in love with Jordan, however, she did not feel the same. However they still went through the motions of a typical relationship (going to church, meeting friends, going to family functions) despite Jordan’s feelings.
Things seemed “normal” on the surface, however, friends started picking up on some weird vibes. Friends have stated they never saw the couple hold hands, kiss, or show any signs of intimacy.
A friend of Cody’s stated, “ Jordan was very distant and reserved. The interaction they had with each other did not seem happy or loving. It was just very awkward”.
It’s also interesting that I should add that Jordan made every excuse in the book to not spend time with Cody, even though Cody wanted to spend all of his time with her. So what does someone who is in a relationship with a bunch of red flags do ? PROPOSE !
A year into this bizarre, one sided relationship, with red flags, Cody proposed and Jordan seemed to happily accept.
Of course everyone who knew of this relationship dynamic was surprised to say the least!
THE WEDDING
On June 29, 2013, their wedding day arrived. Cody of course was happy, but Jordan, not so much.
Her maid of honor later stated that Jordan had cold feet. Jordan asked her if she was making the right decision. Jordan also sent a text to her maid of honor after the wedding stating that “ I should be happy but I’m just not”. Jordan also said she was going to lie to Cody and say it was her time of the month so she wouldn’t have to have sex with him on their wedding night.
The wedding went on as planned, and all seemed to be well.
THE AFTERMATH
About a week after the wedding, Cody was reported missing by his place of employment after not showing up which was unusual for him.
When Cody’s friends asked Jordan where he was, and she claimed that he left the day before without telling her where he was going. They didn’t buy her excuse because he was so happy on their wedding day and he wouldn’t just leave.
Another thing to mention is that Jordan did not seem upset or phased that Cody was gone. So clearly that made her look suspicious as fuck.
When the investigators questioned Jordan, she gave them a different story. Jordan claims that she received a text from a “Tony S”saying that Cody was dead after falling off a cliff at Glacier National Park. Investigators tracked the IP address to see that the message came from her parents house.
Jordan told her and Cody’s friends, that “she just had a feeling of where he would be”. They all drove out there. Apparently they were all singing and having a good time in the car. She led them to “the loop”, a narrow pathway
above a ravine with a 200 ft fall. She looked calmly down and said, “ Oh my gosh, its him”.
On July 16 2013, Jordan was once again questioned and claimed she just had a feeling where his body was as that was the last place he wanted to see before he died. She claimed that she had never been to the park before, but surveillance cameras should them going into the park together, and Jordan leaving alone.
When Jordan was confronted with this evidence, she admitted to pushing him off the cliff, but said it was an accident. They were apparently arguing where Cody grabbed her and she pushed him in defense and left the scene of the crime.
The injuries on Cody say otherwise. There were injuries on his arms and head which proved a head first fall. There was also a blindfold found next to him.
The investigators on the case theorized, “Jordan told her new husband she had a surprise for him. She lured him to the area, blindfolded him, told him to turn around and then pushed him over the edge of the cliff.” (Hemraj) Based on the evidence, Jordan was convicted of first degree murder and one count of making a false statement to authorities.
When trial arrived, Jordan pleaded not guilty and told her story of self defense. She said, “I wasn’t thinking about where we were. I just pushed.” She also claimed that Cody wanted to do a lot of sexual acts that she was uncomfortable with and that he only wanted her to make him happy while she was miserable. However, at the last minute, she switched her plea to guilty. One March 27, 2014, she took a plea deal to second-degree murder, charging her to thirty years in prison with no chance of parole.
