But if you’re looking to be truly creeped out, disturbed, and intrigued…You’ll want to explore some of these truly bizarre and way lesser know True Crime tales. These stories will truly keep you up at night.
1. Corpsewood Manor
Dr. Charles Scudder & his partner Joseph Odom built a castle in the wood’s of rural North Georgia, and they called it Corpsewood Manor.
This home was built in a effort to escape the hectic lifestyle of Chicago, where both Charles and Jospeh resided before building Corpsewood Manor.
The dream of a quiet ” off the grid ” lifestyle seemed to be shaping up for the couple, but it wouldn’t take long before things went terribly wrong.
The year was 1982, and the Satanic Panic was in full on effect. Aside from being gay men who were a couple, which in itself made Charles & Joseph targets of hate…Charles was also a member of The Church of Satan. It’s said that Charles had a Jeep that was adorned with a pentacle, spray painted on the side.
Called a ” robbery gone wrong “, Charles & Joseph were tragically murdered. But…That’s not what makes this story as insane as it already is. This is truly one of the most bizarre, macabre, & peculiar stories I’ve heard to date.

2. Before Botched, There Was Butcher Brown.
Butcher Brown : The Dr. Frankenstein Of Sex Changes
The pursuit of affordable cosmetic procedure’s has been a topic of discussion for a very long time. Reality TV shows such as ” Botched ” is one of many examples, that chronicles the dangerous depths in which those are willing to go in the name of vanity. But, before ” Botched ” ever existed, and long before Gender Reassignment Surgery was widely discussed….There was Butcher Brown.
Are you looking to be totally disgusted by a gruesome story ? If you answered yes, then the story of Butcher Brown is for you !
Dr. John Ronald Brown, better known as ” Butcher Brown “. A self proclaimed ” sex change specialist ” ( Gender Reassignment Surgeon ) … Butcher Brown was a troubled man to say the least.
Please note that this isn’t a classic True Crime tale, but it should be.
Brown was performing Gender Reassignment Surgeries for cut rate prices, during a time when it was next to impossible to get such a procedure. Said to have performed over 600 procedures, Brown was barely what one would call a qualified surgeon. He was quite literally unqualified.
Brown’s procedures usually left his patients severely disfigured, and in some cases on the brink of death. It wasn’t until Brown performed one last procedure that things would come tumbling down.
In 1998, Brown amputated the healthy leg of a 79 year old man named Philip Bondy. Bondy had a rare fetish called Apotemnophilia, which is said to be a rare fetish involving sexual gratification from the removal of a limb.

But, what happens when your urge to buy that cute handbag takes a more sinister turn ? Well! Let us introduce you to Dana Sue Gray, the Shopping Spree Killer.
Dana Sue Gray would have blended in anywhere she went. Her killings weren’t motivated by an insatiable urge to kill like your average psychopaths….But something a little more bizarre.
As Dana Sue Gray said in her own words ” I had an uncontrollable need to shop “. That’s right ! Talk about being addicted to shopping!
4. She Said She Was Being Stalked, But Was She ?

Would you know what to do if you were being stalked ? It’s an incredibly frightening thought, that hopefully no one ever has to experience. As famously depicted in the film ” When A Stranger Calls “, it’s highly disturbing to even consider the fact that you may be, being observed and harassed by an elusive figure.
But…What if your stalker was actually yourself ? Let us introduce you to the story of Cindy James.
The story of Cindy James will leave you truly puzzled, shocked, and probably disturbed…Perhaps DEFINITELY disturbed. Every answer or conclusion you think you have, seemingly leaves you with a million more unanswered questions.
At the time of Cindys death, she had endured seven long years of violent attacks, threatening letters, and hundreds of phone calls ( Audio & Visuals exist in this episode of Bizarre Buffet & online). Cindy was the subject of two Unsolved Mysteries episodes, numerous books, and discussions.
In an effort to escape her violent stalker, Cindy would move several times around Canada before her untimely demise. But…Cindy was losing credibility with the police, to the extent that it was strongly believed that Cindy James was staging her own attacks. They believed that Cindy was acting as her own stalker. From the calls, to the letters, to the violence.
It wasn’t until Cindy James was found dead, that her story would get more attention. But things only got more confusing, bizarre, and all around strange, even after her death.

5. Can Someone Vanish Into Thin Air?
The Mysterious Death Of Judy Smith
Imagine going on a trip with a family member or close friend, and out of nowhere…they’ve vanished. Seemingly falling off the face of the earth. Well, thats exactly what happened in the case of Judy Smith.
Judy & Jeffrey Smith were traveling to Philadelphia, Jeffrey had a work conference he was to attend. Judy had planned on visiting the usual tourist attractions in Philadelphia, such as the Liberty Bell, etc.
Everything seemed to be normal for Judy Smith, there were no indicators of anything that was out of the ordinary….
So, when Judy never arrived back at the hotel to meet her husband for drinks that same evening…It became quite apparent that something had gone terribly wrong.
What happened to Judy Smith never came to be entirely solved, but the insane events leading up to her discovery sound like they’re straight out of a movie.
Did Judy willingly disappear ? And if so, why was she found dead five months later…In North Carolina?
